Good afternoon and welcome to the ETGLD's first blog post! We all wanted a way to let our patrons know a little bit more about what we find interesting from our shelves here at the libraries, our community, and so much more.

1. Little Secrets by Jennifer Hillier
I keep reading rave reviews about this book and we luckily had a copy on the shelf here at Garfield! I love a good mystery/thriller and I doubt this one will disappoint.
Based on the description it reminds me of The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine and The Power Couple by Alex Berenson.
2. Talking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell
I'm not going to lie, I've seen this book on or shelves for a while now but I have always avoided it! Talking to strangers is always so intimidating and seems to more often than not lead to the inevitable, "Why did I say that??" Malcolm Gladwell dives into the impact that misunderstanding others has on our lives and conversations. The way his book is divided up into smaller individual makes this a great read for those who have a tendency to not read a book quickly or who only have small bits of time to read occasionally.
3. I Have Been Buried Years of Dust by Valerie Gilpeer & Emily Grodin
As soon as we received this book I haven't been able to put it down. Emily Grodin has had nonverbal autism her entire life, until one day at 25 years old she is able to communicate in full sentences. In collaboration with her mother, Emily writes of what her journey has been like and how it feels to finally be able to express herself to other.
4. Ultimate Weatherpedia by Stephanie Warren Drimmer
All Texans love to talk about the weather, myself included! This book is all about weather and while it may be found in our Juvenile Non-Fiction section, it's still fascinating for adults. I have always liked the NatGeo Kids books because they are so full of interesting facts that I probably wouldn't find as easily in non-fiction geared towards adults.
5. Half Baked Harvest Super Simple by Tieghan Gerard
I loved the original Half Baked Harvest so I'm really excited to try out some of the recipes in this one! I'm hoping that the weather cools off soon so I can make Tieghan's French Onion Soup!
